Cristiano Ronaldo Training Six Hours A Day To Recover From Chronic Knee Injury

Cristiano Ronaldo is training six hours a day to recuperate from an ongoing knee injury, one which forced the 29-year-old to miss Real Madrid’s shock La Liga defeat to Real Sociedad.

Ronaldo is suffering from tendonitis in his knee and the injury is a long term problem for the Madeira born star. There had been speculation that he would miss the World Cup but the Real Madrid star ultimately played for his country despite not looking 10o% fit.
And now according to reports in Spanish Newspaper AS, he is desperate to play against La Liga champions Atletico Madrid this weekend. Ronaldo however may need an extended rest to recover from the tendon issue in his right knee which first flared up at the end of last season.
Spanish football expert Guillem Balague spoke about the injury to Sky Sports and Madrid’s medical staff are worried that the injury will require their star player to feature in less games this season.
“At half-time Cristiano Ronaldo had to come off because he felt the problems in his knee were continuing and he was uncomfortable. That’s not very good news.
“Doctors at Real Madrid insist that Cristiano Ronaldo has to rest for longer. Cristiano is not resting because he wants to play every game.
“It’s quite clear that Cristiano Ronaldo has to start listening to the experts. He thinks that the Real Madrid doctors are not giving him the right information; the right analysis to his injury, but it’s quite clear in the way you saw him in the Champions League Final and in the World Cup as well, and now – after having to come off after only 45 competitive minutes at the Santiago Bernabéu – that there is something wrong with him.
“Some people are saying it’s the tendón rotuliano - that’s the official name to the muscle he’s got problems with – which is the same injury that Rafa Nadal had and forced him to stay eight months out of tennis.
“Nobody is saying he should be out for eight months but people are saying he should actually rest two or three months, perhaps one even. And he thinks ‘no, no, no, I want to play.
“I think he should start listening to the doctors at Real Madrid.”
Ronaldo played over 4,000 minutes last season and Madrid boss Ancelotti is reported to not want any member of his team to play over 4,000 minutes of football this season as he looks to prevent injury and keep his team fresh.
The Portugal international could be set to play this weekend but he may need to rest more this season to fully recover from the tendonitis in his right knee which has disrupted the Portuguese star in the last number of months.
