Cristiano Ronaldo came back at Bernabeu to watch EL-CLASICO

Cristiano Ronaldo returned to Real Madrid for the first time since joining Juventus to watch his former side record a crucial win against Barcelona at the Bernabeu.

Vinicuis imitated Ronaldo in his celebration
The Portuguese superstar spent ten years in the Spanish capital before a controversial move to Turin in 2019 for a fee of around £99million. Ronaldo hadn’t been back to the Bernabeu before Sunday but used a rare day off to make the short trip to Spain to watch his old side.

And Ronaldo must have been impressed with what he saw as Zinedine Zidane’s side scored two late goals through Vinícius Júnior and Mariano to see off their arch rivals. The win means Madrid leapfrog Barcelona into top spot and now lead La Liga by a single point. Vinicius opened the scoring after his deflected strike cannoned in off Gerard Pique and the Brazilian emulated Ronaldo afterwards by imitating his iconic celebration. Juventus face a title battle of their own as Lazio regained top spot following the postponement of their fixture against rivals Inter Milan. The fixture was originally planned to be played behind-closed-doors due to Coronavirus fears but it was eventually postponed after the outbreak spread further through Italy. Juventus have now taken the further step of ensuring that their youth teams do not train alongside the first team after their U23s played a side where opponents had tested positive for the virus.
