Juventus Could Be Forced To Sell Cristiano Ronaldo Due To The Coronavirus Crisis
Italian newspaper Il Messagero claim that the Serie A giants might not be able to afford to pay Ronaldo's astronomical contract even when football returns to normality.
The 35-year-old has agreed to slash his wages to help balance the club's finances and ensure Juventus can pay their staff during the global pandemic.
He's one of several members of the squad to sign up to the deal, along with manager Maurizio Sarri.
They have agreed to a reduction in pay equal to the monthly payments of March, April, May and June, which set to save the club around £80 million.
However, the Portuguese's staggering £500,000-a-week wages could prove too much for Juventus to sustain.
Ronaldo signed for Juventus from Real Madrid in 2018 for a reported £100 million. But his transfer value has since dropped to a fee believed to be around £60-65 million.
Further reports suggest Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain could be in a position to sign the player from Juventus.
Football across Europe has come to a standstill because of the coronavirus crisis with clubs being financially hit with the loss of match day revenue and reductions in TV payments.
