Ancelotti: Ronaldo fit to play
Carlo Ancelotti has insisted Cristiano Ronaldo will be fit for Real
Madrid’s first League game of the season, against Cordoba on Monday.
Ronaldo was a fitness doubt after he played only the first half of the Supercopa de Espana first leg against Atletico Madrid and started the second leg on the bench.
But Ancelotti has told a Press conference that the Portugal forward is available and has recovered from his injury problems.
“He will be available tomorrow. He can play and has no problems,” AS reports Ancelotti as saying.
“He required individual work and it’s solved his problems. Also he has the whole week next week and can take advantage to train without interruption.”
Ancelotti added that the team is eager to get the campaign underway, and that he is pleased with how his squad looks at the moment.
“We’re looking forward to this season. We were close last season,” he continued.
“We will improve this season. It is a difficult, complicated League with big teams, but we’re hopeful.
“The signings have different characteristics. They bring enthusiasm and high quality. The midfield is covered and no one else will arrive.
“Isco and James Rodriguez can play there, as well as Asier Illarramendi, Toni Kroos, Xabi Alonso and Sami Khedira, who is staying.
“The team is good, with a solid defence and speed in attack. There won’t be a problem with goals. They will come.”
