Cristiano Ronaldo receives another accolade

Superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has been crowned European Player of the 2013/14 season and duly
received his award at the UEFA Champions League draw in Monaco.

He told the elite gathering that he believes Real Madrid can become the first club to successfully defend the Champions League trophy, “Why not - everything is possible.
I had the opportunity to do it when I was at Manchester United and now for Real Madrid - the biggest clubs in the world, so I am looking forward to getting a second chance.”
La Decima - winning their tenth European Cup - was a fantastic achievement for Real Madrid as one of football’s great fraternities, but the title would undoubtedly not have come about last season were it not for Ronaldo.
He scored an incredible seventeen Champions League goals en route to the ultimate European prize and this was the second season in a row that Ronaldo had finished as the tournament’s top scorer.
His tally of seventeen setting a new record for goals scored in a single campaign. Add to that figure another thirty-one goals in La Liga and Ronaldo’s scoring haul becomes all the more spectacular.
As manager Carlo Ancelotti said, “Ronaldo’s statistics are not complicated: it’s a goal a game. If Cristiano plays, the match starts 1-0.”
