Cristiano Ronaldo will NOT join Manchester United, insists Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti
Carlo Ancelotti insists Cristiano Ronaldo won't return to Manchester United - and instead end his career at Real Madrid.
The Portuguese has been linked with an emotional homecoming at Old Trafford after reportedly growing frustrated at the Bernabeu.
United fans even flew a banner over a recent Real game, pleading Ronaldo to return but Ancelotti has dismissed talk of the switch.
Ahead of his side's Champions League clash with Liverpool, the Real boss told the Sun: "Ronaldo will go to the end of his career at Real Madrid. I'm 100 per cent certain he will be here next season not at Manchester United — 100 per cent.
"He's happy here, he's loved here by everyone. It's a perfect relationship at this moment so I don't think it will change. Ronaldo will finish his career here."
Meanwhile, Ronaldo warmed up for Wednesday's trip to Anfield by breaking yet another record.
The 29-year-old scored twice in the 5-0 win over Levante to take his tally to a staggering 15 goals in seven games.
Ahead of Wednesday's clash, Ancelotti has also revealed he tried to sign Steven Gerrard during his time at AC Milan, to create a star-studded midfield alongside Andrea Pirlo.
The Italian added: "He's one of the players I would have loved to coach. But it was impossible because he was very much linked with Liverpool. We had sounded him out but Gerrard's bond with Liverpool was unbreakable."
